Barbara Westley's grandfather, Austen Ernest Blount, was the the private Secretary to Sir Charles Tupper and Sir Robert Borden from1911 to 1917 and was Clerk of the Senate
, Clerk of the Parliaments, and Master of Chancery of the Dominion of Canada from 1917 through 1938.
These photos (or some of them, at least) adorned the walls of his office in the Parliament buildings.
One particularly interesting fact: he was in his position as secretary to Sir Robert Borden when the fire of 1916 (look closely at the second photo) destroyed a good portion of the Parliament Buildings, and was the Clerk throughout it's reconstruction.
